REDIII Level A risk assessment for forest feedstock
Voluntary schemes play an important role in demonstrating compliance with sustainability and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions savings criteria for biofuels, bioliquids, and biomass fuels. Recognised by the European Commission under Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/1657, the Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP) meets the compliance requirements of Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (REDII) for a range of feedstocks, including lignocellulosic material, processing residues, and woody agricultural residues.
In preparation for recognition under Directive (EU) 2023/2413 (REDIII), SBP is developing a number of REDIII Level A Risk Assessments on a country-by-country basis. This new document will assist Biomass Producers in implementing management systems to ensure compliance with the updated REDIII sustainability criteria. It replaces the Annex 6 REDII Level A Risk Assessment included in the applicable Regional Risk Assessments.
We invite all interested stakeholders to review the draft REDIII Level A Risk Assessments and submit feedback via the relevant Feedback Platform. See the blue boxes below for details and deadlines.
