Theory of Change
Turning Standards into impact
How we expand the contribution of good biomass by safeguarding nature, supporting people and enabling responsible growth across the global bioeconomy.
Our Theory of Change explains how our Standards, assurance model and digital infrastructure together deliver the outcomes needed to expand the contribution of good biomass to the global bioeconomy. It sets out how rigorous sustainability criteria, risk‑based assurance and transparent, independently verified data drive improvements in forest carbon, biodiversity, workers’ rights, Indigenous rights and community wellbeing. Reflecting our Strategy 2026–2030, the Theory of Change also shows how we support responsible growth across new feedstocks, geographies and end-use sectors, enabling evidence‑based decision‑making, responsible sourcing and trusted sustainability claims. It provides the foundation for our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) system, ensuring that we continue to learn, adapt and strengthen our impact on climate action, social responsibility and sustainable market development.
